Steve Troyer's car was very competitive!

wheel design on Steve's racer!

Yep, I have even more pictures.  Keep browsing until you find your favorite.

The Frank Family Racing Team from the Great State of Texas was driven by Caitlin Frank, whose father, Kevin, is the genius behind this entry. Their racer featured special wheels with ultra-low rolling resistance, plus a well engineered car. Kevin's expectation was that the car would be the fastest out of the starting gate but because of the wide wheels with poor aero, they might be passed by other cars before the finish line. The team added some fairings to better streamline their radically designed 'step axles' and Caitlin's experience as a driver was definitely a bonus for the team. Kevin's epectations were right on: they placed highly but did not win 1st place.

Here are some pictures of the Team Canada #2 car. From the photo it was unclear what their wheel choice would be. Note the radical wheel setup on both the front and rear axles and the German wheels on the ground. They ended up running German wheels and proved to be competitive.

A moment of indecision? Maybe. Maybe not.

Below are pictures of the "Moon Eyes Racing" team featuring Crew Chief Tuna Murphy and driver Ashley Wilt, as well as pictures of Steve Troyer's innovative "Speedy Splinter".

Steve's car featured excellent craftsmanship which is evident in the close up picture of the wheel setup that he built. Not only did the wheels contain bearings, but the axle was also mounted so that it turned inside bearings in an attempt to keep rolling resistance to a minimum!
